We’re free now, or so it would seem after liberating of virtually every stick of furniture upon the sale of our ‘sticks + bricks’ home and moving into our RV.
A long time time coming, as is expected in the world of large-scale projects, this life-changing initiative began seeding in the fall of 2022 after months of binge-watching RV lifestyle videos on YouTube.
Navigating Sea Change
When we decided to pull the trigger in summer 2023, the life transformation effort not only bore all the innate complexities of such a sea change, but also was weighted by a politically and economically stressed climate.
Moreover, finding buyers interested in a destination purchase –– our home was on N. Padre Island — had its own idiosyncrasies. At first, we were flummoxed when things didn’t ‘go our way’ in the time-frame we anticipated.
However, the undulations of emotion and reinforcements in our faith led us down a winding path taking us where He guided us, not the other way around; time and new challenges both tested and strengthened our patience, but more so, brought faith to the forefront.
Adjusting Our Sails
Moving our hands and feet, and using our heads and hearts to intuit next steps meant continued planning, reframing and adjusting our sails–all the while listening to His will. In moments of humility and surrender, we accepted that our plans would not be as we initially thought, or at the very least, not in the timeline we chose.
From Vision to Reality!
Fast forward to September 2024, and we had a buyer for our Padre Island home! — another couple looking for roots and a future and who fell in love with many of the features we originally did in our 1,967 sq ft paradise, not the least of which was the tranquil backyard and wide-open concept living area.
We quickly and deeply immersed in the 6-week process to move from offer to close and voila, Oct. 11, 2024, we were handing the keys of our sticks and bricks over to the new owners, and we leapt into our NEW life of mobility, freedom and adventure.
As we both have full-time jobs, layering a sea change of this magnitude on top of our 40+-hour work weeks created its stresses, but all in all, the move went smoothly, and we were exhilarated and energized to keep going forward. Spending our first few nights as FULL-timers in our 26-foot inTech Terra Oasis Rover, an RV trailer we’d owned for just over a year, was exciting.
A Few Days Later
BUT, it didn’t take us long–only a few days, in fact–to realize that the trailer that had served us well for extended trips and weekend travels was not going to fit a full-time lifestyle. And, as is my husband’s modus operandi, within a few days of this realization, he was on the phone negotiating a deal on our current RV home: a Brinkley Model Z AIR 285.
We’re getting our sea legs in our new adventure, and we are absolutely LOVING it. It is my hope to share more of this journey in the coming weeks and months.
In the meantime, I wanted to share a look at our NEW digs (the outside, for now; I’ll share glimpses of the interior, soon!).
